Benefit to help man injured in wreck with suspected drunken driver | Events
A benefit is scheduled Sunday at a local bowling alley to help the family of a man injured in an accident last month that also claimed the life of his 10-year-old boy.
The benefit for Michael Iverson and family is scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. at Viking Lanes in Stoughton.
The event will offer a spaghetti and salad bar lunch for $10. Bowling and shoe rental during the benefit will be $10 per person.
Matt Iverson, 35, was driving a minivan Oct. 7 with three young passengers when a pickup truck on Highway 59 near Albany crossed the center line and struck the van, Green County officials said. Michael Iverson, 10, was pronounced dead at the scene. Matthew, Michael's father, was flown to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Matthew Iverson is recovering from the crash but will require more surgery, benefit organizers said.
Lunch tickets for the benefit need to be purchased by Friday at Viking Lanes or by calling 235-4135. Bowling tickets will be available in advance and the day of the benefit. Donations can also be sent to The Iverson Family Memorial Fund at any Associated Bank in Wisconsin.
The pickup driver, 21-year-old Trevor McGuire of Monroe, has been charged with multiple counts in connection with the accident, including homicide by intoxicated use of vehicle.
